These are Porsche (and VW Ambulance I believe).... and while they show up pretty often, they are usually pretty pricey. (100.00 to 200.00)
Why not bring it down to your local generator shop and have it rebuilt. We have several excellent shops here in Phoenix, and the last time I had one of those rebuilt it was about $70.00 including tax. |

| Thanks, I will look into having it rebuilt. Did your rebuilders specialize in german cars or did they work on everything. I know that it will vary by shop ect. but about how long did it take to complete. |

Yes, it needs to be rewound. Professional job only.
Still often cheaper than trying to find the Porsche 356/912 unit. |

| I found a really loose terminal on the voltage regulator. Took the spade terminal off recrimped it and once i fired it up the voltage was where it needed to be and the gen light was off. Got lucky and did not have to spend a dime for once. :D Thanks for the tips on having the old one rebuilt. It sounds like a better route than a new one and I will keep it in mind if I ever need to replace the current gen. |
