| About a year ago I was told by an old timer about a man who was looking to sell 2 bugs that were in his barn. He gave me the guys number and I didn't call him for about 2 weeks. Well when I spoke to the old timer again he told me that the guy sold the cars.. Well that suck rite? Thats not the worst of it. About a week ago I asked a guy I work with to speak to guy who had the cars since it's his neighbor and he did. The news was grim. The cars were gone but whats worse is, there wasn't 2 but there were 3. One from the 50's (not an oval) one 63 and a 70. Included with the whole deal was a barn full of old parts but I don't know what kind (that makes it worse). Now heres the icing on the cake. He didn't sell any of it. He junked it all!!! The moral of the story is, If you're told about a car someone wants to get rid of don't hesitate or you'll be as sorry as I am. Don't let this happen to you. |

That's what's bothering me the most. I don't know what it was. I never got to speak with the owner personally so I didn't even get to ask for some identifiers. I feel better telling myself it's not very likely that it could have been a split or an oval so were just gonna say it had to be a 58 or 59. |

the moral of this story is ........
you snooze you lose .
on the plus side ........
you could have ended up impulse buying , then having to rent storage , then thinking you might as well start a spares business to cover the rent , then ending up way out of your depth !!!! |

just to add to your misery, I bought a '54 oval a "running" '60 panel bus and garage full of old VW parts for $9 in 1999, I sold over $1000 in parts (some NOS) over the years from that pile, still have both cars and some goodies left

it was an auction, they started the bidding on both cars at $5, I bid on the '54 oval at $5 ... SOLD, the bidding for the bus started at $5 I didn't bid ... they dropped it to $2 ... SOLD, garage full of VW parts, I swear there were 100 people standing there ... bidding started at $2 ... SOLD ... I did also pay $5 for a BeKoWa 9 slat roofrack so I guess it was actually $14, I still have the rack too
it definitely pays to be at the right place at the right time, I'm the second owner of both cars, estate auction, owner was deceased |
