| I just picked up a 68 square and it has the stock 4 lug hubs. I want to run a wide five rim. Is there any particular way to convert from 4 to 5 lugs? My guess was that if you could find the brakes that fit the type3 spindle it might work. Any suggestions? |

| You can use 1966/67 Beetle rear brake assembly. Obvisously you won't benefit from the smaller brake surface, but it would be the most cost effective conversion for the rear atleast |

| Buy new 64-65 T3 drums for the rear and new wide five disc brakes for the front. |

cause I'm still looking for something to spend the tax refund on when it comes  |

| Killer. I know it's probably not as practical but could I essentially run the earlier wide lug drums in the front as well?? I'm planning on a full disc conversion eventually but have to have it as a daily until then. Thanks everyone for the comments! |

If you run the drums up front then you need the ball joints out. Spindle, guts, backing plate and drum.
Wolfman, I once partook of the evil side. Always remember Im not a prude that dosnt like "non stock", I just have a well formed opinion
Besides, Id rather help a brother out so he does it right. |

Refurbishing original wide 5 drum brakes to new specs can cost as much or more than a wide 5 disc conversion and will never have as good braking as a disc set up.
Run the 4 lug untill your bank roll allows you to do otherwise.

| Yeah, that's the plan. Running 4 lug BRM's until I can figure something else out. I found out that I've acutally got drums in the rear and disc up front. I don't know if that makes it any easier to convert to a wide five set up or not. |
