| I beleive you may be thinking of lathing some of the wheel seating surface from the drum to set your wheels/tires under your vehicle more. I have considered doing this, as a vw drum is much thicker than most other vehicle drums in the mounting/ seating area. Is this what you're thinking of? |

How are you running dropped spindles without running 58 - 64 brakes?
With the late brakes there should be no problem bolting the wheels up without spacers.
Before anyone jumps my ass about the brakes, let me clarify.
The CB Performance spindles (what I use) and 57 and earlier brakes don't work together, maybe others do.
Before you try to machine the face of the drum down, try clearancing the snout and getting rid of the spacers. Not my idea of "safe" but I've seen it done quite a few times. |
