Posted this in the Ghia forum, then realized this is probably the best place for answers.

Alright! I'm getting ready to tackle my first heater channel/rocker replacement. I'm having a little trouble grasping how the outer rocker fits into the body. I stripped away a little and found this.

My question is... Do the replacement outer rocker panels stop here? Do they go back all the way behind the rear qtr panel? Does the qtr panel fold all the way over them, or is the rocker skin the outside of the body?

Trying to get some orientation here before I order parts. There's bondo all over this thing so it's hard to tell. I've found different parts... outer skin, inner rocker, ect... trying to get an idea of how it all goes together and whats the most economical way to do this.

Oh yeah, it's a 68' Ghia coupe.

You can go to the KGPR site, they have a cross sectional picture of the rocker assembly. I replaced both of mine, you will have the outer which starts at back of door pillar to where you have uncovered. Inner matches up, vert's have a support rail. By the look you will need to replace rear lower front panel.
Rocker repair is almost a neccesity on Ghia's, the original design seemed to predicate this. Make cardboard templates, measure twice cut once, have spare metal for fill, lots of mig time. But it all does go back together.

The rocker should have a "tab" so to speak, that will go underneath the rear quarter. Check out my Gallery and I believe I have pictures from a 67 I parted out that shows how the seams covered from the door pillar down to the lower rocker section. Those seams on the rocker channels should be left intact when you're done as the quarter panel overlaps the rocker. The trick/pain is going to be determining how to cut and replace the outer skin and anything underneath. The rocker section is literally a box around a box and there are about 3 to 4 layers of metal all spotwelded together. Drilling those spotwelds for clean removal is trying.
