Power pulley for a bus good or bad? Will it help in cooling? Not that I'm having any issues (engine not in bus yet) Just want to make sure before I go out and buy one. Something like this one, same brand just different style.

| It turns the fan slower, so your engine runs hotter. |

| Ohhh Doh  Yeah that makes sense, now if I went with a smaller alt/gen pulley that would help. Thanks. |

| Then what do you achieve? |

| Well wouldn't the fan spin faster with a stock crank pulley and smaller alt/gen pulley? |

With a smaller generator pulley, the fan spins faster, so you get better cooling. right? |

| Use a pulley from a prosche 356c engine. Available after-market for about $70.00. It is smaller and results in better cooling |

Not if used with a power pulley.
I run a shorter belt so the belt sits lower in the pulley and the fan spins faster. |

Well, no kidding. Running two smaller pulleys would just be stupid.
I was under the impression that the original poster was looking for a way to help cool his engine, and he was just mistaken in thinking that a smaller crank pulley would do that. What he wants is a larger crank pulley, or a smaller alternator pulley. |

What I meant with my second post was to use a stock crank pulley and a smaller alt/gen pulley, sorry 'bout the mix up. |

I'd not try to fix a problem that hasn't happened yet.
I have a 2180 with 9.3 cr and run just the stock tin, stock cooler and added a remote filter and 1.5qt sump. My temps are just fine. |

| I might be doing just that, trying to fix something that hasn't happened yet. Nervous about gettin a new stroker that's all. |

Busses run hotter though, Glenn. And just because your car runs nice and cool, doesn't mean that they all run cool.
Running a smaller generator pulley is a wise preventative measure, in my opinion. |

Gen pulley is easy to replace with the engine in the car.
Not long ago I installed a 2276 in a 70 Single Cab with a aftermarket 36hp shroud, stock Type 1 cooler, 1.5qt sump and remote filter with a secondary cooler.
It runs nice and cool.
Yes.. Type 2 run hotter, but i'm not sure a smaller gen pulley will fix that.
The DTM shroud is another option.
So... what engine are we talking about? |

Getting a 2007 built
with 78 crank, 40 and 35.5 valves, Engle 100 cam and
scat rockers, full flowed with spin on filter for now maybe an external cooler later and dual 40's. It all depends on how she runs. Oh and I will probably be getting an A1 exhaust set up as well. |

| You can also now get a pulley that looks like the traditional power pulley, aluminum with the degrees and stuff, in a stock size and also in a larger than stock size, if you're just after the look. |

| It's not the look I'm after anymore, it's performance and reliability. |
