I'm ashamed to admit that I have no idea what's missing from my bus...

The bus in question is a '67 crewcab. I have a '67 ambulance, but I'm not sure the switch is OG, so I'm not comparing the two because of that.

The crewcab has a hole where you can see a switch here...

The switch on the left side of the speedo pod...

Thanks, N.

Well, I don't have a crewcab; I have a Panel. The switch I have works the dome light for my cargo area.

Thanks Humanure.

Any chance you have a better photo showing that area than I do?

Will put up a WTB ad. :)

Thanks, Nic

theres some photos here, and they are for sale, and they are nothing to do with me. They seem to be called cargo light switches but I would of called them toggle switches but that didn't come up with anything when i searched for that so it seems noone else calls them that.

Thanks Malachai,

I did a search for 'dome' and it brought up a couple as well.

Any idea whether I need a black or ivory one though?

I have a missing grabhandle...so I'm not sure what colour that needs to be. I have a '68 bug bar that will fit, but the 'ends' are too curved to fit the line of the dash.

The gearknob and handbrake knob are ivory, but the wheel is black.

I'm guessing a black grabhandle and toggle switch?

Thanks, N.

I can't remember what colour the switch I have is, but I have a black steering wheel, handbrake and gearstick, but a grey? Beige? light coloured grabhandle.
I think the switch should probably be black but somebody like Lind would probably know for sure. Mine is a kombi so they might of used more black bits than an ambulance, definately more than a deluxe I would of thought.

Merlin Wed Jul 02, 2008 4:10 am

Sometimes I really do wonder if they just pulled whatever was on top of the pile. :)

My ambulance is black everywhere, except for a grey toggle switch, which operates the 'red cross' light instead of the rear dome light.

I'm not sure what the black switch is above [ambulance], and I'm not even sure it's original.

...but the crewcab is a mix, with black steering wheel, and white handbrake/gearknob knobs.

The ambulance has black gear and handbrake levers, but the crewcab has white...possibly not OG.

I would expect a crew cab to be the same as a kombi as it is another commercial type thing so it would have the more basic parts. perhaps?

Merlin Wed Jul 02, 2008 5:09 am

Commercial = black?

it seems to group sambas and microbusses together and everything else in another section

Thanks. :)

I have some colour-coordinating to do...

Crew Cabs did not get the rear light switch.
My 67 DC does not have one either.

Thanks DownRiver! :)

Is there just an open hole in your pod as well then?

pyrOman Wed Jul 02, 2008 6:41 am

That switch turns the radio on and off in my Dormy! 8)

DownRiver Wed Jul 02, 2008 6:42 am

Yup, open hole.

Merlin Wed Jul 02, 2008 6:44 am

 pyr0.

Thanks, DR. I'll still keep a lookout for one...close it off nicely and I can always find another use for it...spots/fogs perhaps. :)

Originally there should be a plastic plug in the hole. I'll take a picture of the one in my Single Cab tonight.

Learn something new every day!

Don't know why I didn't think of that before!?! :?

I had to install a separate switch for the headlights when I got the "blue" ones on, as they'd draw so much amperage that it was burning up my og switch. The reason I use the domelight switch for the radio was that I had a radio which used to burn its own on-off switch, so I kept it on all the time but turned it off through the domelight switch. That old radion is on the Plump Truck now so I can use the domelight switch for the headlights and remove the cheesy looking aftermarket one! :P

There should be a plastic cap covering that hole.
I can't seem to find a pictures of one... anyone?

A picture would be nice Mink.

I too will likely get a switch and use it for fogs. Good call Merlin.
