I recently discovered the Classified Alerts feature of the website.
I love it except for one thing -- when I click on the link in the Classified Alert e-mail, all of the Forum Topics are marked as "Read." So, now I don't know which topics I haven't read.
:?: Is there a solution? (Other than not clicking on the link in the Classified Alert e-mail?) |

When you log in, the only posts marked as unread are posts since you last logged in.
So if you are logging in to read an alert and then leaving the site, the next time you visit you would only see Forum posts since you last visited the site.
The only other issue would be something with your computer, in which case you may be able to "clear your cookies" in your browser to solve this issue in the future. |

Yes, but ONLY when I log in via the link from a Classified Alert e-mail.
EDIT: When I go to the forums without going through the Classifieds, the posts that are marked as unread are actually ones that I have not read.

Yes.

 I wonder if I could "protect" my existing cookie before clicking on the link from a Classified Alert e-mail and then "restore" it when I am done. |

There's no difference between logging in via an alert and logging in normally.
You don't have to log in if you get an alert. You can see the ad anyway. |

| Maybe this will give a clue. I use multiple computers between the house and the shop. If I am logged onto The Samba on one computer, and have been using it, and then I go to another computer and log on. It will show all topics as read on the second computer. |

Yes, because you were logged in.
The site stores the last date/time you were logged in and shows what is unread since that time. |
