i cannot agree with the definition given:
(german: small bull)
correct: it was a nickname already used in the factory for its 'massive', ' considerable' front. the german adjective for that is "bullig" |

Does bulli not translate as Small Bull?
I cannot read the German.
Give me a good definition and I will update the page. |

| David Eccles quotes Heinz Nordhoff at the press launch of the bus referring to the Lanz Bulldog tractor as the reason they were not calling it the Bullybus. The name stuck. |

I always heard (and read) that Bulli is how germans call the French Bulldog and they frist intention was to call the bus Bulli. The name was caught by a brand for a tractor model. So VW didn't have any name and they had to present her bus at the press.. so they call it just Transporter... and that's where the 'T' from T1, T2 etc comes... not from type.
Of course maybe I'm wrong but now with the new T5 they launched a model called Bulli! |

| interestingly VW AG finally acquired the rights to use the name Bulli last year after years of wrangling and it's now used to badge some of the T5 models... |

So does that mean VW will start hassling Mr. Pribanic about the Bullibrigade in Florida?
I wouldn't put it past them... |
