Violet's u pull it is in Lakeland. I bought a front end for my ghia from them a while back for $300, and a tow bar for just $40. Also check out Sunray's Bugs. He has ACRES of VW's, some really rare ones too. You have to catch him on a good day though if you want him to sell something to you. He would rather just watch it rust. He's one of those types of guys that thinks he has a gold mine. I heard from numerous people that when he dies, they're just going to get rid of that stuff dirt cheap.
If you're ever in the Holiday area, get in touch with Aircooled Autohaus. They're great people and I'm sure they know of more places. Since you're in Tampa, stay clear away from Fisher Buggies, unless you want to get ripped off. |

I was told that Violets was shut down a couple of years ago. Thank the enviro-nazis. But he did not keep the place exactly clean either. He was a nice guy and sold his stuff cheap. I like a U-Pull it place anyway....
There is Sun Rays up in Dade City off US 301. Keep in mind that some of this stuff he thinks is worth its weight in gold. I have actually found it cheaper at times to buy another car, take what I want and sell it to the next fellow. You know, pass it on down the line....
There is a guy here on the Samba (can't remember the name) the is into the Splitty vans, he has or had a colleciton of Beetle stuff he would buy, sell, trade around. I got a rear clip for a car, some fenders, and a hood real cheap from him. I know where his shop is in Lakeland but I do not have the name and number.
Is there something in particular you are looking for? I am selling off some crap I have accumulated over the years to get it out of a friends place. I am in Plant City, drop me a PM. |

I'll have to check but I think the rear clip I bought and never used has that part, but no moon, it is a '68-'70 piece. I bought it for the package tray andthe rear appron/engine area. It was cut above the rear vents (has the lower rear window lip) then throught the quarter window just in front of the C (where the window makes the bend), then down along the inner fender area towards the flange where the pan bolts to the body under the back seat.
I paid $100 for it, come get if for $50. Right now it is sitting on a pan covering an engine. |

X2 on Fisher's.
Definately call Dave @ Aircooled Autohaus. If he can't tell you, then he can put you in touch with a long-time Pinellas/Pasco county VW institution called Kenny's. They're both just north of the Pinellas/Pasco county line in Holiday in the general area where ALT US19 meets US19.
It's too bad about all the old places that have closed down due to death or illness. You could find loads of good quality used, german VW parts. House of VW's in Clearwater comes to mind. As soon as the old man died, his son sold everything off within a few weeks. |
