View original topic: vert drivers window trim

While rolling the drivers window up my daughter decided to help it and pulled the chrome trim with the rubber that goes around the window off up and off about 1".
Sounds simple just slide it back on and maybe glue but everytime I get it back on it pops right back off. Seems like it is sprung or bent. I pulled the trim completely off and looks fine.
The first 6 inches of the trim piece feeds onto the window channel and that appears to be what is causing the problem. The channel seems to be at to much of an angle and is forcing the chrome to pull off in order to stay straight. I didn't see a adjustment for the channel by the door striker

Will the window work properly if I just let it slide in the track without feeding over the channel and just let it hang loose?
Has anybody else expereinced this? Am I doing something wrong?

Unlikely doing adjustments will correct the issue, I doubt the channel is the issue, probably the trim is bent but you can straighten it. There are adjustment you can make but you need to pop off the door panel and access the adjustment screws.

It's best to fix it correctly. The window won't seal very well without the trim and doesn't look too hot either. Not a difficult thing to fix correctly. You will need to pop off the interior door panel, separate the window/sash assy from the regulator, remove the window/sash assy and re-seat the chrome piece. If the rubber seal that goes inside the trim is shot, you can buy it new.

Anytime I need to go into the door I look at as total package: grease the regulator ,lubricate parts, replace any seals, etc. Not something you want to revisit for another reason anytime soon and it will work much better. It takes a few hours the first time, but it's worth it.
