1968 bug, 1972 dp, generator.
So, I have an FM transmitter for my ipod in my bug, works fine but runs off the ipods power and won't last long, eventhough it works great. I get a new one that plugs into the cigarette lighter, and it works fine with the car off, but once it starts up, it works sporadically. Is this because generated power is more erratic than alternator. most bugs' head lights flicker slightly similar to older motorcycles.
Do you think that a capacitor or a resistor would solve this problem?
Thanks,

| I know when dealing with high power/high draw amps, a capaciter will help smooth out the pulsing, as it releases its stored charged during high draw times. If you believe your generator is sending out irretic signals, a capacter may help smooth it out. |

| Clean all of your electrical connections and inspect the brushes on the generator and replace if worn.. |

Thanks a lot guys, it has new brushes and voltage regulator, I found a capacitor at a pawn shop for 15 bucks made for 12v audio/video aplications, I'll gave it a try.
