I wish to thank Glenn for helping me through a very successful avis adjustment.
It was easy as pie and he was able to guide me through it with one or two little one-liners'...
Thanks Glenn, I appreciate it sir.
New shocks will be in my hands early next week to complete the job.

I'm a man of few words. ;)
But YOU did the work. Give yourself a pat on the back and then get to the next item on the list. |

| I've always wondered do the vents behind the the rear windows serve a purpose or are they just for looks. |

Looks good, Roger.
On to the next task... |

thanks very much gents.
The task at hand today is 20 racks of smoked back ribs over hickory wood, 1 butterflied chicken, 6 skinless boneless breasts cooked over hardwood 'lump' charcoal with cherry and applewood thrown in, a full tray of bbq baked beans and a tub of homemade potato salad.
Not to mention a basket of fresh French Baguette bread and gallons of ice cold beer to wash it all down.
All of this for a cater of only 20 people.........man, these people eat HARD!
Once my son delivers that scoff of bbq, I have to pitch a tent in the backyard, then I`ll play with the beetle although I don`t have my order in yet so I`ll just be tinkering.
(having said that, I was able to squeeze in the avis adjustment) :D

They are part of the "flow through ventilation" and connected to the vents inside on both sodes of the rear window. |

I showed my wife the pictures and all she said is why do you want to lower it? (some things they just don;t understand) I explained that I thought it looked better and she just walked off.....needs more convincing
I personally think it is a very nice improvement over stock |

The adjustable beam came with it on the car already so I figured why not adjust it.
if it wasn`t on the car it would not be on the top of the list of parts to buy.....BUT, its there and was bagging to be adjusted.

| Don't forget to have a wheel alignment done at the new height. Changing the ride height changes the front toe-in. |

Glenn, et al...
Does the caster angle change if you do just drop spindles?
Roger..
Car looks great. Like the new height a lot. I've got a set of drop spindles waiting to go on my car. Hopefully it sits as nice as your car does. |

Everything changes when you do any kind of suspension work. Just depends on how much...
Caster isn't a direct tire wear angle, I would be more worried about the toe. |

Roger,
You ordered small shocks? When they come in would you measure them for me? I want to know the rest length. How long they are fully extended at rest? Also the fully compressed length.
Maybe mine are too short? When I disconnect them my front end goes up 2 inches.
Thanks,
terry |

Sure, no problem.
They will be in early next week.
They crossed up the 72 Opel GT shocks (as per Glenn's advice) to both a KYB GR2 344098 as well as a Monroe number.......both are nitrogren charged shocks.
Unless someone else comes up with the specs you asked about, I`ll measure and let you know.

Yes, even with dropped spindles. Add caster shims under the lower tube of the front beam before taking your car to the alignment shop. |

How hard would it be to put the Front End Adjusters from CB Performance I saw in a previous post?
Has anyone done this?
