Hey all- I have a 70 vert that I am building.I 'm working on the front axle. I have the following- Drop spindles and EMPI weld in adjusters to install. I have 2" wider than stock CCC front fenders with pre 68 headlight buckets.
My question is in regards to narrowing the beam. Since I have to cut the beam, it would be the time to narrow it, but with the wider fenders is it necessary? I would like to run 15 x 6 chevy pattern wheels with low profile tire on the front.
I dont want to compromise turniing radius if not necessary. Would 2" narrowing be beneficail?
Also, the instructions that are included in the EMPI packaging is not very inclusive......does anyone know of a site (or address) that has photos posted of the EMPI adjuster install? Thanks |

| When going with dropped spindles, your front track does become wider. I have heard of some kits widening your track as much as 1/2 in per side. So with 2" wider fenders, your should be fine without narrowing the beam. The other thing to consider too is your wheel selection. Wheels with a large offset coupled with the increase from the drop spindles may cause the need for narrowing. |
