| you can do it yourself if you buy the kit because with the kit it includes the easy instructions on where to put the wires. I suggest you get the harness from wolfsburgwest. I bought some from that place and i am very happy with it. |

Its work to install, but not all that hard. Usually they come with install instructions...
A lot of the harnesses out there are from the same manufacturer, Wiring Works. Don't buy the cheapest out there, get it from a good seller. |

Have your original wires been hacked up?
If not, fixing broken spade terminals and cleaning contacts is a lot easier than replacing the whole harness. You may have a bad light or emergency flasher switch which does not come with a new harness.

| can you buy a harness with absolutely everything or do they have a diagram that has all the lengths of the wires because its probably cheaper to make my own. |

WW has complete harnesses. Here's one for a '70.

While you might be able to make your own, I'd recommend buying it since the wire colors will be correct as per the originals. |

| Harnesses come ready to install. They're about $2-300. You have to really want to make your own... |

Complete harness is just that... nose to tail.
Main harness is from fuse box to engine compartment. Does not include any wiring for lights. |

Do you need it all?
I am in the process of carefully extracting the harness from a '73 std. It has diagnostic wires but only at the back. Most is the same as a '70. I was going to keep it but I don't really need it all as my '71 Super is in good shape.
Of course I have all the switches etc. as well.

I'm gonna be removing all the old (unknown) wiring from my '71 super, and replace it I guess with the complete wiring harness.
Any suggestions as to where to go to buy a complete set?

Vendors don't tell you who makes their harness so it makes it a little tough to choose where to get it... although most are made by wiring works.
Wolfsburg West always has quality stuff. From what I have read, Mid America sells the wiring works harness. CIP probably has a good price... Could probably search '71 Super harness' or something similar and see what others have used too. |
