Didn't see another thread for this yet, so what's your opinion of this one?
I think it's really cool but he needs another model for 2 drinks. And the price certainly isn't bad for the work involved.
Quote: Hardwood and plywood cup holder in natural finish or paint grade.
No drilling or clamping required, hooks into slots in bus dash.
Will work with stock speaker bracket installed.

Other wood available, custom made at extra cost.
These are hand made in my home woodshop.

| Looks good to me and blinds real well with the dash. I have been looking at that ad several times. I think I may just get one; and your right a two cup would be nice. |

| I have speaker grill cloth so it looks like this sort of thing would not work for me. |

| I've got my aftermarket headunit in the parcel tray right below there and it would block my view of it while I'm driving, so I don't know that I'll be picking one up either. |

Hi, I'm Greg and make the cup holders. I saw the thread and wanted to add some more info about them. I am working on a two cup version, but don't even have one to try out in my single cab. The holder works with the stock speaker bracket and speaker in my truck, there is no cloth attached to the speaker. Is the cloth normally attached to the speaker or the inside of the dash? There is no interfearance with the ebrake since the brake handle is below the package tray. The holder is close to my stock gear shift knob that is on an extension when the holder is installed all the way to the left, nearest the radio. There is no problem if the holder is installed in the center slots or all the way to the right. This is the fifth version of a cup holder I have made, and I like it the best, I drove my truck for at least six months with one of them in the dash to give it a good test, and asked other bus drivers for opinions. I have owened and driven a single cab for over eleven years now, so I wanted a holder that works well.
I'll be watching the thread if you have any other questions.
Thanks for the comments!! |

Well....it is nice. Are we still talking about cup holders?
I have to say I think that less is more when adding things onto an old VW.
See the cupholder?
B5-B5.5 Passat flip out cupholder. You have to be creative to mount it, but when done its all but invisible and will hold anything any other average cupholder will. It looks like yours might hold larger things.
Anyway. . .

Nope, I was distracted by the Schwinn tag on your steering column.
Hey, that 8 -track is cool and Greg, nice cupholders. Why not make the "grill" go all the way through and out of a thinner piece of wood? Also, maybe mount it higher so that it is even with the grill instead of sitting below it? Just some thoughts. |

Looks like some of my '70's woodshop projects, except mine were mahogany and required cutting out the whole vent/radio section of the dash to facilitate install* (I never installed, left the cutting to the owner  ). They held 4 drinks, and I sold about 40-50 of them. Sorry  . I did install my own. never thought to "alcohol proof" them though.... whatever that is.
*edit* $35?.... I'll hold my beer..err soda, thanks. |
