If it's this kind, you should know that VW had a recall on these because the engraving of "SB12" in the top of the headlight door could cause a blinding glare from bright sunlight at certain angles causing the driver to careen off the road. I have a way to "fix" these, so you should send it to me and I will replace it with one with the more desirable (and safe) smooth chrome finish without that hazardous "SB12" engraving  .

| Kent, I think it is just great that you offered to help out a person stuck with those SB-12's that can cause a blinding glare. |

I think all '67s have the SB12 stamped on the inner ring. As for the outer headlight door, I was just trying to help. Apparently, you wear polarized sunglasses 8)

The inner SB12 rings are abundant because many other years used them as well. Into the 70s I believe.
The outter SB12 rings were used only on the '67 models though. My 1967 Squareback has 'em

| And do you know why the SB12's are so good?? They are stamped from brass, not steel. They chrome plate better, and don't rust. |

Indeed. I've got one SB12 and one generic repop on my square, and the SB12 is in nice shape, while the repop is pitted and rusty. |
