What size carburetor, and what distributer does this engine use in factory stock form. I want to put it back as close to factory stock as possible. Thanks

HO is '68 or '69, can't remember which. Once you know that, here you go:

My 67 had an H engine till this weekend. A couple of weeks ago I found an HO engine in great working order and it's being swapped out. The H engine date code identified it as being made in 68 and for a Ghia...my guess is that way back when a service trip on the car resulted in an engine swap, which seems to have been common at the time.

My H engine has too much crank end play and a leak at the flywheel/clutchplate (a typical worn engine problem) whereas the "new" HO engine has been in storage since the 1970s, has no end play, great compression and on the test stand prior to installation fired right up once some fresh oil was put in it..I got lucky on this one.

I have pictures in the gallery of my old H engine, and will update when I get this all done. All the supporting pieces such as Gen, Carb, Dizzy, and such are being moved over. I did find an original fuel pump rebuilt and putting that in. I am even installing the proper underside preheat tins and tubes for the 67.

OOPS! I had it backwards. I guess that was particularly stupid given the OP's user name. #-o Thanks for the correction rustfree and johnanddes.
