My '87 2.1 wbx is running WAY better than it ran when I bought it. One small remaining issue.
When the van is cold, the idle speed fluctuates, almost like a slight surge, between 700-1000 rpms. Also, if I drive it while this is happening (again before it is warmed up) I will experience extremely low power for the first couple of starts.
When it is fully warmed up, this goes away.
Not a big deal, but I'm sure it didn't come this way from the factory.
Where to start? I'm guessing it might have to do with the temp sensor II, based upon having run a couple of searches.
Also thinking it could be a vacuum leak that seals itself off when things get warm enough in the engine compartment.
Other troubleshooting ideas? I've looked through the Bentley but don't see where this issue really is discussed. |

Hunting idle is frequently a vacuum leak. I would check all the vacuum lines and injector seals and the brake booster line for leaks. If the line looks crappy, replace it.
Since as the van warms up it runs better, I would also invest in a new Temp II sensor. It is cheap and easy to replace. It controls the warmup mode.
