| I was in that same situation almost a year ago. Just try and think of a good way to make it as if they think it's a good idea that you get it and it will fly...at least that's the hook my wife bit on 8) . |

| Is there something special about the '66 like a sunroof, convertible, low mileage, rust-free perfect condition, special provenance, some reason that passing it up would be foolhearty? If it's a non-descript '66, why not put your money and effors in finishing your '67 first. |

I have a similar but entirely different problem,
My wife is so supportive she will let me put us in the poor house buying parts and new projects. I have to regulate my spending because as everyone knows you can go way over budget buying parts and my wife will never tell me to stop. Most people have a safety catch in their spouses that keeps them from going over board, but my Loving beautiful supportive wife will say to me "If you want it get it". |

| Forget the '66, you need to diversify. VW made a lot of cool cars, buy a different model. I suggest a single cab so that you can haul crap in style. |

| I know how you feel Cody. My 67 isn't done yet and I've been cruising the Samba for a second race car that I can build into a replica of the Sonic Muffin 1/4 mile car. Already got the green light from the wife! |

The one on the far right is a '65 with under 12k original miles and dealer installed AC, the one to the left of it is a '67 with 39k original miles (but I sold it), and the one to the left of that one is my one previous owner Lotus White. Not pictured is my '59 subhatch Westy  |

Hey Kent---that low-mile 65 would look even better with a big set of wheelie bars hanging out the back, a roll cage and a one piece fiberglass front end. SELL IT TO ME! |

I have 14 cars (not all VWs)... you get to a point where your mini-warehouse can only hold so much, you only have so much time, only so much money... you get the idea. That said, I plan to live 60 more years, so eventually I'll get to them all :)
(plus the yet-to-acquire low-light ghia, 23-window, sunroof notch, sunroof squareback, sunroof fasty, '67 sunroof and 'vert (Richard, you still listening??), single cab, double cab, split-window ragtop bug, oval ragtop bug... OY! I have to stop ) |
