I helped my son install a CB adjustable beam this past winter on his 67 ball joint VW. All went well he had the lower look he wanted. We also still had suspension movement unlike the old adjustable that rode like a rock. Well we are back to riding sold no movement in the suspension. I thought the new beam probably settled a little and we could adjust it up. We tried this today and the lower adjuster bolt stripped out. As I look at this we will have to remove everything from the beam A-arm,seals,bearing and the we should be able the remove the collar that the leafs slide into. Does any one know easy to fix this?

Lots of guys run only one adjuster (after they shear the lower one off). The spring rate will be lower with only one spring; the other will act as a sway bar.

Any chance of getting a helicoil in there?

You should be able to remove the piece it screws into....but that won't address why you had no suspension travel. did he grease the bearings? With the center unbolted, do the arms move freeley?

I stripped one once, it will need to be cut out and a new one welded in, (torsions will have to come out etc), the opposing adjuster positions never did work for me. Mine rode hard too but I think its a lot of reasons. I never did narrow it down but I have a new car with a much better ride now. I think shocks, adjustment, beam, bearings or bushings etc are all factors.

I'm not 100% familiar with the CB beam, but if it is like I think, You will need to remove the center piece from the beam in order to put a helicoil in it if that is what has stripped.

You might want to call CB and see if you can get just that part.

One VERY IMPORTANT thing when taking it out, is to make sure you put it back in the right way! If you put it in backwards, you won't be able to align things.

When you slid it to the end of the tube, mark it somehow before taking it out so you know which way it goes back in.

We went out and unbolted the shocks so the arms could drop all the way down. Then set the top adjusted at it highest point. It still sets all the way down when put back on the ground and no real movement in the suspension.

I think I can get a helical in it I’m going to try that next
