I have low mileage 1835 with unknown cam, its been siting around almost 4 years,(it has broken valve springs but no further damage) I'm going to split the case to check the internal and put new cam,
this engine will go to my 66 split-bus with RGB, so the classic question, what camshaft??
it has stock head with stock valves, 36DRLAs for carb
the engine come from my friends bay window, I remember the car drove OK in flat ground but it strugle going up the hill,
I was thinking w100-110 ? maybe webacam, which one?? Im open for opinion I have 500$ budget for parts to make extra torque from this engine.
Thanks |

$500 budget?
i would get some cb 044 heads, match port those intakes myself, and throw in a w110.
bingo, some extra cash, to buy gas.     |

webcam 218 with 1.25 rockers and a 1 1/2 header.
you could make over 100 ft/lbs tq from 2000-5000 with that set up.
(I run similar and am very happy, see dyno chart on my gallery) |

i still vote for new heads.
you have any headers? if not, look for a used one.
what is your comp ratio? |

it comes with custom exhoust system,
I have no idea about comp ratio,, I got the engine from a friend (very cheap) he doesnt know much about the details, but I know, the case, CW crank and stock head are less than 10,000KM.
I was thinking ported head with stock valves but I have to double my budget. |

| dump the 92mm p/c's. They'll run hot in a bus. |

Keep the heads,(good air speed over the 044’s and that will = torque) add some good springs, valve job, web 218 and the 1.25's
I never had a problem with 92's on my 1835’s on the street, track or in my baja but i did add an extra oil cooler do to larger displacement and would not want the stock oil cooler trying to keep up with the larger combo!

yes it has external oil cooler and electric fan
I will keep the jugs and heads to keep cost low,( dont want to start another thin cylinder argument :D I had 1835 in the past with no problem,my mechanic agree 90,5, 92 thick wall is beter option but he never had problem with thin 92 )
I only drive the car to the beach 35 mins from my place including 20 mins up and down the hill . for long drive I have 79 bay with 2l type4 40DRLAs, and to go bit faster 2110 for the fastback almost ready.
thanks |

92 dont run hot by them self, just if you do run hot then being thinner they will warp quicker, so all is good if your in tune.
When your driving to the beach dont crash into the reef like this guy
