I just went through this thread and noticed this one on page 2. I immediately thought that was my buddy's bus, but then I got to thinking that maybe it was a common paint job on those hightops, but then I remembered that he bought it from a guy in the midwest who bought it from San Diego a couple years ago. I emailed him the picture and he confirmed that it was his bus! It has the same sticker in the bottom right corner of the hightop window! You should see it now... he has really done it up nice!!!
Can't believe I saw it posted on thesamba...How cool is that? |

On our way through Costa Rica. Puerto Viejo at the moment. My wife and I have seen a good few Bay Window VW buses here, and thought I might share some with you. The Caribbean Sea meets the land here, and the salty air has worked against the metal through the years. Otherwise these buses are quite functional.
Hmmm, early bay front bumper on a late bay bus?
Surfer dude bus...
Chicas on the way too...
"We don't need no stinking new windshield seals!"
"We love our rusty bus!"
Mas chicas and buses...
OMG... what happened to you?... that's just downright ugly-smugly...
Private drive... use telephoto...
Next day, a clear shot... yes, it's a Westy!
Riviera, or...?
Now, these jalousies are "interesting"....
Hasta la vista... "Pura Vida"! |

| Puerto Viejo is a sketchy fuckin hippy/conspiracy theorist/hiding from something type place, no surprise to see that many buses there. |

That's how I felt when I was there 3 years ago. I traveled the country in a rental car and the only ACVW I saw was a rusted out bug in the back of somebody's yard. |

| True statement for Nicaragua or Puerto Viejo. The rest of CR kicks ass, except maybe San Jose. |

Hmmm, wonder how you'd know that? If you drive a Bay Window, does that description fit your M.O.? I sense a conspiracy.
Caribbean Sea and rainforest meet up here. Gorgeous, and relaxing. All part of the travel experience.
On to Tortuguerro National Park. I predict there will be no VW buses there, as all travel in and out is by water. :D |

C.R. is awesome. But I made the statement because I met a few Americans at several taverns that were escaping some kind of problem back home. They seemed to be permanent residents, kind of. |

I saw this Bay in the checkout isle and grabbed it. According to the magazine it's owned by Luke Dorney (are you on the Samba?) and it's a 71 that he has owned since 2009. The buses name is Sandy.

| I saw an all black tin top with roof rack pulling out of Starbucks yesterday on Riverdale Road in Ogden while I was pulling out of the Honey Baked Ham store... it was funny we were pulling out of each of those stores and were directly across from each other before pulling onto the main road! Nice bus... you. |
