I have been searching and trying to extract information from so many threads that my head hurts. I am to the point where fact and opinion are blurred and I am just going to post this up.
I am on the verge of getting my 1776 long block in. here are the specs:
1776
69mm counter weighted crank
rebuilt rods
1.1 Rockers
reground lifters
110 cam
Rebuilt heads w/ perf. springs / stainless valves / mild porting / matched ported / swivel foot adjusters / steel push rods
New pistons
26mm oil pump
I am thinking that I will upgrade the rocker assembly but keep the 1.1 rockers
I also believe that I need to get a breather box to vent the case...
thoughts? |

Yeah, switching to a bolt-together rocker assembly is a good move. Eliminates the danger of having a clip or spring-washer break.
You might hold off on the breather and find out if you actually need it.

| I have the same motor basically. Hadnt seen a need for the breather box. I have also heard some bad things about using reground lifters. But I dunno.. |

You won't have to have a breather unless you notice oil shooting out from your dipstick tube.
You can use a oil fill neck similar to below, and route one end to the top of a carb
