| I'm wondering if anyone knows of a camper conversion shop in Sao Paulo/Rio. I'm thinking about importing one of the new water cooled 1.4l Kombi's in Canada, but figure it could be cheaper to get the conversion done in Brazil rather than Canada. |

| If you plan on insuring and driving one of those brazil busses in Canada I think you are out of luck. They don't meet emission and safety standards for new vehicles. |

| Whoever buys that should be buying it for parts only unless they take a vin/plates from an older bus illegally to get it on the road. No way they would be able to register it as a '93 |

I cannot comment on the safety standards required in Canada, for new imported vehicles, but you might find that the exhaust emissions from those modern water-cooled, 1·4 litre engines probably do comply, with quite stringent regulations.
Increasingly stringent exhaust emission regulations, introduced in Brazil, was the reason that the traditional 1·6 litre, flat-four, air-cooled engines were discontinued in December 2005. |

The car is made in Brazil and has still the chilean plates (is not imported to Canada, we will keep the plates). Itīs up to you to get the permissions to use the car in Canada! The car has no insurance!
no whoever buys it is, they know and dont care. |

| a vehicle can be imported into canada if it is 15 years old or older (1993) and a vehicle can be bought from a foriegner in canada. i have looked into this as i was going to buy this van but i found what i really wanted instead (a westy) all the van needs is for you to pay duty (6%) have it registered and get a provincial inspection. i went and looked at it a few times and its in nice shape no rust anywhere tranny was rebuilt in prince george and no oil leaks anywhere sooo somebody should jump on this as its a once in a lifetime opportunity and just a little paper work. they're leaving on the 29th so get on it! |
