So, I just picked up my very first Westy. It's a 74 with 65K miles original! It's been in a barn for the past 10 years and I'm not kidding....a barn....in Saskatchewan. Anyway, after some VERY expensive mechanical bills (we had to pull the motor because the moron who was working on it previous had installed a rebuilt motor {*2000* miles} and neglected to put a bunch of parts back on such as cooling tin, wrong oil pressure sensor, didn't torque heads properly, no shocks, etc.). There's next to no rust either, it's awesome.

First, forgive this stupid question, the aux battery isn't meant to supply power to the 110 plug in is it? Logic tells me no but the person who installed all the gear made so many mistakes that I had to correct just to get the aux battery charging from the alt that I have to ask.

Second, does anyone know the law on police searching a "certified motor home"? I have heard that because it is a "motor home" and it is like your house, that in order for an officer of the law to search it they need a warrant (or probable cause obviously). It's not that I have anything to hide, I just think it's wise for a person to know their rights.

Third, I am a canadian planning on driving the north cascades highway...through montana, glacier park, north dakota and then back into canada. I've done a bunch of research on what's neat to do but if anyone has any suggestions.....go for it.

Thanks all.

The aux battery is just a battery and not a converter. The 120V outlets only work when you are plugged into shore power.

A search warrant based on probably cause is still required for "the man" to search your bus unless you are at the border trying to get in or out of the country.

Make sure your fuel lines and tires are all new. Old ones are prone to failure and a sweet bus like that should not be burning down or rolling over.

All new fuel lines, all new tires....check, check.

Nice bus! Looks to be Yosemite Yellow like mine. Same year too. On the front of your pop top canvas, there is some kind of decorative weave hanging down. Mine has that too. Does anyone know if that is OG?

Good luck on your road trip!

The pop top fringe is standard until around 75, Nice looking bus, love that color keyed canvas.
