Just ordered a full set of Koni shocks from Bus Depot for my 79 Westy. Given that they are adjustable, what are the proper settings front and rear?

They are rebound adjustable only. They adjust a tad less than two full turns.
You may want to leave both the front and rears on full soft for a few hundred miles. Some say it's a break in period. Fine enough.
The norm is to set the fronts at full soft maybe 1/2 turn and the rears at 1/2 maybe one turn.
The thing to remember about rebound only is that when set on soft they will rebound quicker as compared to full stiff. Meaning that when going through the whoops, the bus will return to full extension more often to make for a comfy ride.
I noticed the setting difference when I was using 2.5 dropped spindles. If the shocks were on full soft the ride was compliant with some bottoming out on the larger dips in the road. When I had them on full stiff, the bus would bottom out more often because it did not rise back up fast enough to make it through the next set of dips.

| Its very hot where your at. Each setting is a different size orfice that the oil flows throught. The viscosity of the oil will be thinner. Go with the highest setting. Up north in the freezing winters the lowest setting. Or you can ajust them for summer & winter driving, but since its stays hot or very hot here, no need for any ajustments. |

G'day Westy Rider ,
I've had my Koni's for probably 15 + years , when I 1st fitted them I played around a little with adjustments & settled on full soft as a couple of other members have mentioned , it's only now as they wear a little that I might give them half a turn both ends , hope this helps
Ciao
