View original topic: Early baywindow kick panels, where can I find them?

I'm down to a few missing pieces to finish my 1971 Westy and I can't find new original looking kickpanels.
I have called West Coast Metric, they are out of stock and Wolfsburg West doesn't carry them.
Does anybody know where I can get them?

The best place to get them would probably be from Werksberg.

If you still have your old ones or there's someone near by who will let you borrow their's for a few hours, you can make your own. I cut mine and then covered them with a tan tweed.

I got mine thru www.midamericamotorworks.com. Took about 4 weeks. They are custom made.

Thank you for all the replies, I will try those places today. Has anybody purchased them from Sewfine , I'm looking at their catalog but I can't see a good picture of them, I want to get them as original as possible. Here is a picture of my almost finished '71 Westy.

if i remember correctly bus depot had some good ones that where made from plastic instead of vinyl covered cardboard. this has been discussed before as i have a `71 as well and was checking this same thing out.

I'd rather go with the ABS plastic ones and never have to worry about them again.

The outrageous heat around here got so bad it actually melted the glue holding the vinyl to my original kick boards. Now they look like sh*t and I'm thinking of buying new ones. Anyone have a pick of the ABS ones in their bus?

I guess some pictures of different types wouldn't hurt.
Thanks.

Yes, we have the ABS plastic ones from Just Kampers in England, in both early and late styles. They are the top two listings (marked "Hot") on this link:

The cardboard ones actually come from TMI, no matter who you buy them from. While we can get them if you really want them, the general consensus on the Samba forums is that the ABS ones are much nicer (and cheaper to boot).

Crap, I just got some parts from Bus Depot, I could have saved on shipping.

Here is a picture from Just Kampers in the UK, the price is almost the same than Bus Depot so it sounds like a good deal.
