my engine will only turn over half way by hand. regardless if i have the spark plugs in it or not. i dont know what to do this is my backup motor that im trying to use cause the motor i had did the exact same thing.

i really hope this isnt a major issue and can be solved easily.

Do you have the distributor out of it? That cause it, for one.

its in it but i'll double check to make sure that its all the way down.

ok the distributr is now fully seated and it will still not go more than 180 degrees. could i have broken somthing inside the engine? cause when it wsnt fully seateed i was almost standing on the breaker bar on the crank bolt

You say both engines do this? Will the engine roll over out of the car?
Sounds like the trans has a problem.

well i just took some pictures of the "first" motor and heres the carnage

i think this motor needed to be torn down anyways

Perspective is everything. How someone could think that an engine like that had any hope at all of being ok escapes me. LOL

its an ae case so i think i'll build it up a little .....by the way i fiddled with the distributor in the other motor and now it turns over freely 360 degrees
