| I checked Ratwell's site and he lists 5 different wiring harnesses but the numbers do not match my harness. I am looking for a '79 federal. I guess the better question is where is it stamped on the harness. There is a number on the plug for the ECU but I think it is for the number for the plug. |

The number will not do you any good. The plug number is just the part number of the plug. VW part number of the cap is 022 906 239.
No harness is available from VW anymore. |

and CA 79
I was thinking maybe the pin configuration in the ECU plug might give the application away. |

| Maybe even match the pins with the ECU I wish to use. I guess as long as the pin pattern on the ECU matches the pin pattern on the plug I should be good to go. lol. |

| the pins on the harness do not match the ECU exactly, in fact. there are extra pins on the ECU iirc. |

| Ya just got looking at that just now. I have three harnesses and they all are identical except for one extra white ground. The ECU end on the engine harness is different with different pin configurations. It's funny the inside of the ECU uses all the pins so they must be for some type of ECU tester. |
