Hi

I have just removed the heads to try to find a loose accelerator nozzle. It has been there but removed it self it seems.

In the heads there are some copper gaskets/spacers, but in my "Elring gasket kit" there are no such thing. There are som paper gaskets though, but aren`t they for the cylinder base?

What should I use? Tried finding some copper shims on cip1 but no luck.
Nothing perhaps?

Edit: the shims are about 1mm thick (0.04"). The engine is a VW refurbished one, so perhaps they are there to give it its original compression rate? A golden chance of some singelport tuning :)

Those are head shims you can reinstall them and torque the head

You can reuse those shims, I've used some several times.

Some people re-anneal them by heating them up until red hot.

I have never done it and have yet to experience any head sealing issues.

Hi,

Thanks! Guess that`s the safest way when I know nothing else about the engine, and won`t bother to measure out the compression.
