View original topic: Vent tube from oil filler.

I now have Dells on my 1600 engine and I saw a picture somewhere with the vent tube from the oil filter going to the top of a dellorto air filter. Does venting the case to the filter do anything other than create a place for this vent to go? Should I just put a small filter on the vent itself?

Do you have a breather box?

I dont know what that is or how to identify it. I dont see anything that looks like I can hook a hose to it.

Post a picture of your engine.

Venting directly back into the case won't allow any actual venting at all. With it routed that way, you're just completing a circle with no where for the pressure build up to escape

You can buy a plastic 90 degree fitting to fit into the air cleaner top. That what I did to the 2-litre in my Type 2

Frogman, I have a 65 Bug with dual carbs, and my breather box is a rectangular box mounted on the fan shroud above and to the right of my ignition coil, pretty much where a single carb might be. It has a hose from the filler tube to it, and two hoses coming from it...one goes to my right carb, and the other goes to my left valve cover. If you have a breather box, you should check and clean the sponge filter in it with each oil change.

hope this helps.

Where is the connection to the Right-side carb?
