Hi,
We have a 1969 1600 Bay, it has developed a problem and I wondered if anyone had any ideas and similar problems.
When in forth gear the van starts to jump and slow down, sometimes if you shift him down to third you can bring him round, but most of the time the van dies like there is no power. Before you say it, its not the driver!
The strange thing is the van starts first time, runs for a while and then has this problem. We have had 3 mechanics look at it and none have any idea. The engine sounds like it is running sweet, we had him serviced, tuned and a new fuel filter put in recently with no luck.
We are taking the van to a specialist on monday, has anyone been through the same problem?
Many thanks

| Is your carburetor float filling with fuel and cuasing fuel to overflow into the carb?...or the carburetor getting iced?...or the fuel line too close to a heat source and overheating and vaporlocking? |

| Does this happen after you are driving in forth for a while or right away? Will it start right up after you stop? Will pumping the pedal make it run a while longer in forth? Have you tried disconnecting the bungee cord hooked to the back of the bus? |

| Sounds like it's starving for fuel. My guess would be to start at the fuel tank, drain the fuel and check the 'sock' inside the tank at the fuel outlet, I'll bet your tank is rusty and clogging the 'sock'. |

X2 I'd look at the filter again too. |

Thanks for your replies,
The Van starts everytime and sounds great. I doubt the carb is getting iced as it has been happening in really hot weather. It does feel like a fuel problem, like not enough is getting to the engine.
It has gone in to Outermotive in Warwick to be checked over. I will let you know when the problem gets diagnosed!
Thanks
