Oooooohhhhh.....yea!
Looking real nice now Cully without the moss...can't believe you took it to Junebug without washing it first.
I like the license plate....009
And...the matching Turkis cooler. |

Current status:
I've been driving the hell outta this thing.
The Turdkis bug now has working wipers and a glove box. I was able to make a voltage dropper for the 6v wiper motor out of some spare parts @ the shop. All that is needed is a LM323K 5v voltage regulator, a few ceramic resistors, and a large heat sink.
Also, I've been rubbing some wax into it, got the front half done. Hard to tell from the pics. I kind of like the satin rust look! |

Gots me a free rusty roof rack from the D. Sears, maybe?
Aside from driving it non-stop, got a new hood seal in the other day. Woo! |

| Ah, Pennys! Had one of those in B-town back in the day. Good for VW roof racks, evidently...not so much for ladies' lingerie. |

Alright, I had some tire rubbing issues and general anxiety about trans/tire wear, etc. So today I raised up the rear about 2" and the front about an inch.
Tire rubbage in the rear:
Current stance:
Not sure I like that much rake, so I might bump the front up a bit more.
I'm glad I had it apart, anyway. I found that both rear metal brake lines were rubbing on the shocks. And I went ahead and ran the valves (fresh rebuild) and a couple were pretty tight... |

Mucho better....every bug with heaps of negative, (or positive) camber look like ass!
Although it looks like it would have quit rubbing soon.
IMO, you need some Randars or some old rusty wheels on it to finish it off.
Lookin' good. |

Thankya.
The tires were really only rubbing when I had a passenger and rounded a sharp corner. I like the camber look, but it was just a bit excessive.
I'd love some Randars or polished Empis, but I kind of like the stock wheel look for now...especially since I painted them and the brake drums, etc. |

Some progress as of late:
Fixed fuel gauge. New gauge, fixed hole in sender float.
Antenna "delete". Plugged the big hole with a rubber plug, used one other pre-existing hole. Had to drill one.
New non-stubby self-canceling TS switch:
Got all my horn ring hardware in today and got it installed.
Pimpin'.
Other than that, it's been pounding the city streets daily. |

Cool! Do you have any pics of the gutter clamps? Mine was missing all the hardware so I improvised. |

I covered the clamps with shrink tubing to protect the paint.
Side.
Facing out.
Inwards.
Hope this helps. |

When I was a kid my old man had a 60's Chevy Van with a Coca-Cola bottle opener installed on the dash similar to that..I've never seen one installed on the outside of a car though that is interesting. |

Classy, eh? :D
Got a horn installed and after some initial confusion (strangely convoluted horn system VW had back then) we have horn beepage. |
