I have noticed for my dead end county that there are now 3 convertible beetles. Mine being the oldest 65, a 79 and 74. I have noticed some really nice bugs around as well. I was wondering the best way to round up these people and perhaps start a VW group. Do I type up and print out cards with my info and leave them under the wipers?

Where I live its few and far between. Not like Cali where VWs are a dime a dozen.

Suggestions for my first step?

first step is to click on Community and then on clubs and see if anyone is already not all that far from you already existing.

Ok, done and no there are none listed on the Samaba.... I do know of a gathering in Aug 18 but its not listed on here :?

Hi,

Seeing as to how you actually see these cars around, yes, start stalking them. Follow them and make contact.
Is there an air cooled shop you would all be using? that would be a good resource to use. A good air cooled parts store would be a spot also.

I'd print up a nice flier explaining who you are and how they can contact you. Tell them what you drive and that you desire to get together and share a common hobby.
Already have a spot and time picked out to meet and also set up a basic website so you can communicate.

Leave a couple of fliers on the cars windshield and also ask that if they see other bugs / vans to invite them in the same manner.

If you have a few bucks, spring for the first meetings snacks / food or make it a place where purchasing a meal isn't mandatory so as not to scare off those who don't have the cash to put out on a hunch.
Free food almost always brings people and if you add free beer, you'll get them all!

Unfortunately there is no VW shop in the area....

I am excited about my venture. I'm a total novice with my vehicle but my Boyfriend knows all and fixes all :D I am a people person, I am really good at the networking part.
