I'm trying to keep my folks motivated to finish their Vanagon Westy Project so they can take it out west. I saw that the Bay Forum has a Busses and Wilderness Thread. I almost forwarded the link to my folks when I thought it would be better to send a Vanagon's in the Wilderness thread. But you don't (yet).
So this is a plea. Please post all photos of your Vanagons out in the wilderness, camping, posed in front of landmarks, etc.
Thanks,
Westy Steve (who spends a good amount of time working on the Vanagon) |

| You know about the Gallery section? Has pretty much what you're requesting, though with tech photos mixed in. |

Yeah, I know about the gallery section. The buses in the wildnerness thread is one of the hottest Bay Window Threads. I think because people upload photos they might not otherwise upload to the gallery to contribute to it. Then you have it all in one place too. Another cool thing about the thread is you get the back stories on where the photos were taken...which is great when you're planning a trip.

Okay, I'll start: not exactly "Wilderness", but a nice campsite along Gales Creek. And a slightly wild animal.

It was perfectly dry when we went to bed and woke up to this.
That was taken up at Rocky Mountain National Park this past spring.
This was taken on a dirt road going to some wilderness up around Wyoming/Colorado border.
Camping in the Comanche Peak Wilderness Area a couple of weekends ago.
Hope to have more to contribute after this weekend. :D |

Steelhead, that van is lookin sweet, you did a nice job there.
fngruvn, that is a sweet ass shot (snow). I would say that your westy is snow white. Those are some good times there. What a blast that must have been. Still love those wheels, mine are similar but 5-spoke. |

Hey Rodknock, that's a bus depot awning. Best money I've spent so far. Sets up fast and was pretty inexpensive.
Thanks floggingmolly. We are having a blast with our westy. We've taken it out almost every weekend since getting the overheating problem worked out.
We're going up to Wycolo this weekend with our neighbors. Friday can't get here quick enough. We're pretty lucky to live in a place where you can be in the wilderness in less than an hour. BTW, that picture in the snow is my favorite. That was our first camping trip in it. |

Good on ya for getting out of the toasty bed and getting that shot fngruvn.
Not really wilderness, but best I can do for right now. San Jacinto Mountains in the background, near Palm Springs. In the interest of full disclosure, we were actually staying at a posh hotel set up by my sister in law. It was fun to pull up to the valet with the van (they got a kick out of it), having them park it with all the MBs and Bentleys was a trip. I told them to be careful not to ding the van. :D I only wish I had taken a photo of it parked in and amongst them.

Yep, west side is cool. Got to see it up close this summer too, but didn't get any good photos with the van in them. |
