View original topic: 85 Vanagon Turn Signals Quit Working - Intermittent

This happened about 6 months ago, but fixed itself. Today, the turn signals quit working again. The green LED does come on but doesn't flash. The hazard lights work just fine. After checking the fuses, the signals resumed working. The left turn signal was flashing faster than the right turn signal, but they were both working. Then they stopped again, leaving me with a solid green LED. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried replacing the flasher unit? It is the one numbered 21 in the relay box.

One thing you can check, is the sockets of all the turn signals, front, rear and side. Corrosion makes them do strange stuff. So pull out the bulbs clean up the bases and the contacts and the ground parts, it may get better. Scotch Brite or steel wool works well.
