I searched but couldn't find whether I should install the pedal assembly before I put in the carpeting. Do the carpet kits go around this? It looks like the carpet would fit over the clutch and brake pedal would but I wasn't so sure about the gas pedal.

Carpet goes in last. Stock can be "bent" open to fit over the pedals.

Thanks, I was hoping you'd say that.

And in general I don't glue the carpet down in the pedal assembly area. I used some velcro to hold it from sliding around, but should you need to repair something, gluing it down there would be a bitch.

Thanks, it's "Conando", but your probably knew that. I think your Lemur is pretty kick ass as well, is it your favorite animal, household pet?

Good advice, I am a ways from carpet but I'll try to keep that little ditty filed away!

Use Velcro like localboy said to hold it down in case you need to do any maint down there.

On my 72 SB new carpet kit I found that the gas pedal roller was actually snagging the edge of my new carpet kit and was resisting my foot. I thought I was having carb issues but it was just a shag snag. I cut that out and it works like a charm. So make sure its all clear.

What adhesive do you use on the rest of the carpet?

I used 3M contact cement adhesive in a pro gun that my buddy owns but you can purchase similiar in a spray can from upholstery shops.

VW never did glue the carpet to the floors, only to the sills and the vertical parts.
Velcro held the floor pieces in place.
