I am in the process of completing an interior restore and need a foot rest to fill out the carpet on the passenger side. Does anyone know if they are sold in aftermarket? I can't seem to find one.
Thanks. |

I don't believe they are, but it seems OG ones appear in the classifieds fairly regularly.
I'm facing the same problem down the road, but I just plan to use a carpet kit made for use without the footrest. |

Yes the classifieds are the best place ( besides swaps or junk yards) to find them.
There are many different styles/years though.

| Depending on your need and desire, plywood works too. :D |

| I posted an alert in classified and will look into creating one out of plywood. Does anyone have the dimensions of the foot rest that fit a '74 super conv? As I recall (from a brief look at one) it was about 12" w x 14". Can anyone confirm? |

The search function is your friend. This looks rough but after you cleaned it up would work fine

If it helps, I measured the footrest in my 73 standard and it is 12 " top to bottom with a 1/2 in bend to floor. The side to side measurement was
11 " at the bottom and 12 1/2 " at the top. Plate was shaped to conture with the heater channel and tunnel. If I were to make one out of plywood
I would use heavy cardboard for pattern, and then cut the wood. You could also make a tab to slide into the whole to hold it in place and then seam seal it at the bottom to hold that in place. |

Here's front and back shots from my '74 convertible. You might be able to use the photos as a template...try printing them to scale across 2 sheets of paper and cut out along the edges.

| I have one for my 70. I ordered the rug kit with out footrest not knowing what the hell I was doing. It looks good with out it so I didn't bother putting it in. Looks original and is in great shape. Not sure how much to ask but if your interested lets figure out a price. |

| Thanks so much for all the help. What a great resource. For some reason my first search in classified did not turn up any rests. It must have been a "new user error". |

| if you live near a junkyard it would be easier just to find a bug and tear it out from underneath the carpeting, would be much easier and would save you from possible headaches down the road |

As stated before, if you buy one make sure you get the right one for your model/year.
I had some confusion on this myself...
