Here's an issue to look at before you drop the front end of your beetle.
TIRE RUBBING.
With a standard height tire, you will probably have rubbing problems. My 69 had 205/60-R15's on it and they rubbed badly.
I bought 165-R15's (stock and very pricy) and still had rubbing. ended up buying special camber adjusters
http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=C12%2D6612%2D10
to give me extra camber adjustment. My tires now tuck under my fenders, but still rub when I turn tight.
I either have to get a narrowed beam (expensive) or smaller tires (145's). The smaller tires will make my speedo incorrect. What to do? |

| I bought lowered spindles and front disc brakes for my 70 from empi and the tires and calipers rubbed. The spacing was made weird on the point where the calipers bolt to the spindles and then my tire rubbed my fenders. I had 165/15 on the front. Went to 155-50 15 on the front from tire barn. If I had to do again I would have bought a cb spindle kit or airkewld.. I think the empi was poorly made.Just a heads up!! |

I got this kit for my 69. I put on 145's and have no rubbing problems. I would recommend stainless braided hoses, they don't come with the kit. Be aware the kit you're looking at does not come with bearings.
