they're really in there. I got the clamp off and the two rings but that pipe might as well be welded. I'd feel completely comfortable hanging from that pipe out of a hot air balloon 1500 feet up.

Don't I know that story. I just took of my exhaust. 7 days of PB Blaster, the nuts came off the studs to the heads. PHEW!!! I had to sawzall the other nuts to get some elbows to come off so I could take the rest in one piece off of the engine. The engine is getting redone. I hope CO smog laws will allow me to put a less restrictive exhaust on. I have a 79 SB with a cat converter because it's from CA. Hope they will buy that parts aren't available, or that the cost of the new engine exceeds the cost requirements for a waiver!!!

good luck with that.

I'm thinking I may have to just replace the whole damn exhaust.

Get the PB blaster aka penetrating oil and soak them for a day or with out driving, then heat small torch and heat it up and use a pipe wrench or something like it. Twist turn yank. Goat to get it hot and they will come out short of replacing the muffler.

so, just keep spraying it directly at the joint and let it sit for a while then wiggle it around and spray some more? repeat... for a week?
