| I'm in the middle of replacing my floor pans on my 69, and I've discovered my heating system is in worse repair than I previously thought. The front seat foot well vents no longer have the control flaps, the passenger side y-pipe has no flap, and a lot of the hoses in the trunk for the fresh air system are missing or rotted out. I haven't even really inspected the heat exchangers. I'm wondering if it's worth the time and money to completely restore the heating/fresh air system...I live in San Diego and it's only "cold" (around 50 F) for a few months each winter. On the other hand, I want to do this restore right. Any thoughts? |

If you are restoring it to original, replace/fix the stuff. If you are "restoring" it for personal use, then scrap the system down to J-pipes for the exhaust. They make J pipes with tabs for the cooling tin so you can keep that stuff in tact.
You might want to keep the parts that are good in case you go to sell it to someone that might want the system reinstalled at a later date. |
