| Go to FLAPS, and get a replacement idiot light sender. Most places will stock them, and the VW one is known for going bad and causing the syptoms you describe. If that's not it, unfortunately it's rebuild time because new bearings are the only thing that'll fix low pressure at idle (the right way!). Sure, you could stick a larger pump in there, or put the pressure booster kit in, but it would only be a bandaid for future destruction. |

| I would try a new sender, sometimes they get old, and start illuminating the dash light at higher pressures (7-14, vice 2-7). |

:D :D :D
I like when things work out in a cheap way! Doesn't always happen though.
Like with my Corvair; I didn't know it had a riveted 3-piece flywheel, so when it started making a clattering that sounded suspiciously like rod knock, I assumed the worst and tore it down. Come to find out all I would've had to do is replace the flywheel, but I guess in the long run it's better this way. A few of the jugs were worn more than I would have liked, and a couple bearings had been acid etched. Plus, I got to overbore it, and put in a better cam! :D |

A little pricey, but I put a T-fitting with my oil sender and screwed this really small gauge into the extra hole. Let me know a couple of times that I had good pressure when I wasn't sure..
