Ok heres the deal. I am building a stroker motor 76x94. I got the long block all assembled and when I went to rotate it it goes about a half turn and it stops. When I had the motor assembled with a 69mm crank it was fine, now that I put the 76mm crank in it it has a catch in it when I torque the main bearing nuts down. The only thing I changed was the crank. I measured the crank before I put it in and it measured the same as the other one. I'm lost please help.

How did you measure the new crank? With a stroked crank you need to do some preassembly work to ensure there's sufficient room in the case for the longer stroke. Sounds like you may have to take it apart and figure out where it's hitting.

When Hot VW's was doing their mileage motor (76X85.5) they had to clearance the case because with the 76mm stroke, the rods were hitting the case. The interference was slight. It could be the rods. or . . .

bearings not aligned, or 30mm oil pump and cam gear bolt interference.

I vote for the rods as the culprit.

I had to do a little clearencing on the case already and from the looks of it the nothing is hitting. My first thought was the oil pump but after I removed and retorqued the main bearing nuts it did the same thing. I guess I'll have to tear it down again.

Do you have the Drive gear in for the Distributer, not the brass one, that supposed to be there, but the shaft one, I find it better to put it in after the case is torqued, I almost ruined good german bearings that way.
