I have a 1641cc engine that I can't figure out what is causing a noise. It started when I adjusted the timing and drove the car. The noise while driving sounds like one time when I had a J tube come loose, however I checked those and all exhaust nuts.
The noise is worse under accellaration seems to fade at cruising rpms (or is drowned out by the exhaust noise). When the car is parked and I am at the back of the car it sounds like something is rattling in the fan shroud and I can't pin the source down. But, this is what gets me, if I dissconnect the no. 1 spark plug wire and rev the engine, the sound stops and it seems to run ok.
Other than the noise, car has power and runs great. |

| check your timing with a timing light. If all you did was adjust the timing, then it sounds like you may have advanced it too far and now have some detonation. |
