hi all, months ago i got a 56 from the classifieds on here and i am in the process of striping the paint back to the original dove blue and i have uncovered some signwriting.

ive searched the net and found a company still in business under the same name but cant get in contact with them, so i was wondering if anyone knows about or has heard of a company called

Modern building cleaning service (possibly with LTD) based in canada

any help would be fantastic

thanks for your time!

Canada is second in size only to Russia.
That covers a lot of territory. (Remember Rupert's Land?)
Just Googled it - there's one in Thompson and one in Frederickton.. Pretty diverse geographically.
My bet is that either this corporation has grown out of the original (decades ago), or has nothing to do with the original company,
Back in 56 there would be more little independent janitor companies than chains.

hi, thanks for the reply.

sorry i guess it was abit of a long shot,

the company i have been trying to contact are:

9350 Yonge Street
Richmond Hill, ON L4C 5G2, Canada
(905) 883-3124

hope this maybe narrows it down abit, i realise they still may be nothing to do with the original company but its worth a shot!

thanks

Where in Canada did you buy the bus from? That could narrow it down a bit.
If you get a birth certificate, that will tell you where the bus was delivered to. Although it will probably be Toronto which means it could have been delivered anywhere from Alberta to Prince Edward Island.

Still, it's cool to find the logos AND find that a metamorphosed version of the company may still exist half a world away!

i live in toronto, close to here. what are you thinking of saying to these people? i can try to contact them.

Most likely the company has changed hands, so it could very well be a dead end. At best maybe a bit of interest, a couple of photo's exchanged.
Richmond Hill is just north of Toronto, part of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area).

The bus in your gallery looks vaguely familiar... wasn't the owner in Calgary, AB and the bus in Vancouver BC...if so you could be trying to find some info from the wrong end of the country.

Maybe post a picture of the uncovered logo.

Cheers

hi everyone! thanks for the interest, i will try and help a bit

i am hoping to get in touch with the company, this is assuming they are the same company, hoping they might have some old paperwork etc showing the logos im after,

the trouble im having is the logos are white over the blue, then they repainted the bus white then orange etc, so as i try to uncover the writing it all ends up white, if i could see what the logos should look like that would be a big help!

also, i have emailed the seller of the bus regarding where it was found etc so hopefully i will have more info for you when he replies.

thanks again, heres some pics of the signwriting

HI Dom, I'm the fellow that sold you the bus, I found the bus while trying to trace the history of my 58 deluxe. The farmer that owned my deluxe (who died awhile ago) has a brother that helped him pick up the bus. When I contacted the brother, he told me he also picked up a bus at the same time(56 kombi) So I went and bought the 56 kombi from a place called Paradise Hill in Saskatchewan. The brother told me they bought the buses from a town called Cut Knife, also in Saskatchewan, not far away, from a farmer's kid, in his 20's. That is as far as I could trace them back. This would have been 20 years ago. My guess is the bus came from Lloydminster in Saskatchewan, and the company was probably a small business in the 60's which would be now gone...
