| Hey fellow volkswagen drivers. i got a problem, hoping somebody can help. CAR- 1957 euro rag. ENGINE- 2110. Problem- engine was running fine, then went to local VW show about 55 miles from my house. drove fine on they way there. stayed at the show till the end, won 2 awards, best engine and 2nd in mild custom, anyways now on the way home the throttle would stick?? put into 1st let off the clutch then it would feel like the car was giving itself more gas?/ shift into 2nd and same thing. seems to go away after tapping the pedal to unstick it?? checking the cable from from to back, slides smooth no obstructions. checked and sprayed the linkage(running dual 48s), works fine no hang ups. anybody got any ideas on what it is??? thanks in advance |

Sometimes wiring running behind one of the carbs can hang on a throttle arm, and keep it from operating freely.
Insufficient return spring force (common problem with dual carbs)
Sticking throttle shafts (they should return to the stops in a positive way when operating freely)
Throttle cable too tight
Linkage synchronization errors
Loose linkage arms on the carbs causing the arms to shift out of adjustment
Loose trans mounts causing the engine to rock and actuate linkage |

| My dual 4os would stick when they got hot or warm. I had to take the butterflies out and buffed them just a touch on a wire wheel. It was just enough to free it up. As you take it apart operate it as you take it down to se whats sticking.vIf you have to go that far like mentioned above check the other easy stuff first. |
