Hi yall, i was always wondering about making something similar to the dodge six pack, except for My bug. Basically the dodge setup is having three two barrel carbs setup in a way that at half throttle only the center carb is open, but at full throttle, the other two open. anyway, while i was browsing the september issue of "hot vw's" magazine, This guy did just that. This is what the article said:
-Albert galegos drove his tri-power fitted '57 convertable (with trailer) to the show. progressive three carb set-up uses two tillotson carbs and the origional solex, rare?-
So, has any one else done this before? And also what makes this work? what is the difference between a tillotson carb and a solex carb? are the tillotson carbs "bigger" then the solex carbs or "smaller"? I guess what i'm asking is how do you know to use those carbs, or is it more of a "trial and error" thing here?
What do yall think about using a stock carb and two webber ict's? think it might work? I know i would have to fabricate an intake, but anyone know of anyone else who has done this? |
