hey guys whats up. I just put my motor in my bug a couple of weeks ago along with a rebuilt tranny. This afternoon I went ahead and replaced my clutch cable and noticed that I believe its called the release lever? where the threaded end of the cable goes through then the wing nut. That lever now only moves about less than an inch when i pull it back and the pedal does not fell right at all. Did my throw out bearing come off when I put my motor in? I did have a heck of a time mating the motor to the trans, I had to re-align the clutch three times before i got it right. So my question is is it my throw out bearing? Did i warp my pressure plate taking it off so many times? The clutch kit is new by the way. I ve never experienced this prblem before im stumped and fustrated. I dont want to pull the motor back out or buy another clutch kit. :(

All parts of the clutch kit were the same, i took my old clutch parts to Vee Dub unlimited and bought the same one. as far as the bowden tube, the lever will still move only a little bit without the cable attached,it has nothing to do with the cable or tube. it seems something is not lined up correctly between engine and tranny, also ive used this clutch before with old trans. and it lined up with no prblem. My car is a 66 swing axel. What is a collar?

Has your car been re-wired for 12V (you've mentioned this is a '66)? If so, was your new tranny properly cleared for a 12V flywheel? Sometimes the bell housing isn't ground out enough making the engine re-install difficult. But, if you're talking about all original '66's with original tranny, 180mm 6V flywheel and 6V configuration all the way around you're engine should have gone right back in, if you used a new old style throw out bearing and your pressure plate having the collar on it.. What exactly do you have???? Totally stock '66 6V or something different??

Did you make sure the pp seated properly on the flywheel when you bolted it down? If it is not even, the fingers will be out of alignment putting your set up in a bind.

Yea it is a 12 volt I had no problems with flywheel clearance, I am aware of the sizes of 6 volt and 12 volt are diffrent. I'm going to pull the motor out next weekend and hopefully the throw out bearing slipped off, I dont want buy a diffrent clutch. The one I have now is from Sachs its the round diaphragm type. I'll try removing the pp one more time, could the pp get warped from taking it off and on so many times? I have been doing it in sequence but it still worries me. By the way my motor is a 1776, I had my gland nut replaced by my mechanic are all gland nuts the same for ACVW type 1?
