you get one thing fixed then the next comes along...
Right my steering (1970 bay) is making a squeaking sound when turning coming from the bottom of the steering column. Its like a rubbery drawn out sound rather than a metal squeak. I hadn't drove the bus for a couple of weeks as I was away and then this has happened. I lifted the front end of the bus up and whilst the sound happened less it was still there. The steering performance is still good. This one is a mystery to me...any clues |

| When you lifted the bus up, did you employ the help of another person to go underneath and see if they could pinpoint the location of the noise? How does your steering coupler look? |

| right I've been under again and had the misses turn the steering. The steering coupling looks fine. The squeaking is like when you have your trainers squeak on a shiny floor. It sounds like its coming from the top of the steering box but its really hard to locate . This is sending me mental! Help please. |

It wouldn't do any harm to grease the whole front-end. Also make sure the bolts holding the steering coupler in place are tight.
I had a pretty loud squeek last year. Luckily it came and went not long after I greased everything. |

| Great, but I will caution that if your steering box was empty then it may have a leak. Check on the ground under the box every once in a while for a spot or a puddle. Mine leaks so I just fill it up every once in a while. If you do notice a leak, do a search as there are some good threads on finding and replacing the offending seal if that is the route you want to take. I choose to just keep mine topped off for the time being. |

| Yep I've been checking everyday...I don't think its been topped up for 38 years so hopefully its just a small leak. I will keep an eye on it. Cheers for the tip |
